- The Discover Seoul Pass will allow unlimited access to Seoul Metro
- The pass also gets the user free admission to major tourist spots
- This offer begins in December 2019
If you’ve been eyeing South Korea as the next on your list of countries to visit this 2019 (‘specially because it’s one of the most ideal places to see in autumn months), your timing couldn’t be better. Beginning in December, visitors to the country will have unlimited access to Seoul Metro—specifically lines 1 to 9 except KORAIL-operated sections—if they buy the Discover Seoul Pass.
A survey by the Seoul Tourism Organization last December showed that nearly half of their respondents chose “free transportation” as one of the functions to be included in the travel pass. Definitely, this is a growing trend in other places too: New York, London, Taipei and Tokyo.
The Discover Seoul Pass offers the holder free admission to 52 (!!) tourist attractions and cultural facilities, as well as discounts at 40 destinations inside the capital.
There are 24-, 48- and 72-hour cards, which can be used in card form or app form. and can be bought literally everywhere. The pass is available at 400 locations both on and offline: tourist info centers, convenience stores, tourism websites, hotels; even at Hana Bank at Incheon International Airport. You need only recharge the card to keep using it during your stay.
Seoul Metro is playing with more options to offer customers, like letting them choose the length of validity of the pass from 1 to 5 days, expanding available subway sections as well as the number of attractions they can access. In an effort to boost tourism, they will also be allowing subway rides to areas visitors travel to most for sightseeing, shopping and lodging.
There’s literally nothing else we can say to urge you to book that flight and take that trip to K-Town. Just don’t forget to get you a Discover Seoul Pass, and well, discover Seoul!
