When over 90 percent of the Earth is covered by bodies of water, it’s hard to decide which of them is best. Well, that was resolved very recently, with international luxury mag Conde Nast Traveler naming Siargao the best destination island in Asia, raking in a whopping 429,000 votes (!!!) for the magazine’s 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards.

There’s literally no better time than the present to book a flight to the best island in the world, and here’s why:

This teardrop-shaped patch of heaven is known for its surfing scene and is considered a destination close to the hearts of many wave-riders, whether they be pros or amateurs. If you’re looking for a change from the usual Baler and La Union, Siargao’s where it’s at.

If you’re not a traveler so inclined for water sports, never fear. Island hopping is another exciting thing you can do here. This island is God’s gift that keeps on giving—in the distance are some of Siargao’s equally pristine neighbors.

Surfing and island-hopping can really take it out of you. To regain your strength, Siargao offers choice dishes, friendly even to the most discerning of vegetarians and vegans.

With Siargao Island bagging this most impressive title, we owe it to ourselves to experience and appreciate it with fresh eyes. Time to soak up everything it’s got to offer
