Our three-month voyage around the Philippine archipelago is coming to a close, but we’re ending it on a sky-high note with yet another island destination worth exploring. For our On The Fly series, Team CVMN traveled through the famous and secret islands of Coron, Palawan, got to know a different side of Siargao beyond its surf scene, and for the last leg of our tour around the Philippines, we had our breaths taken away by, none other than, Batanes.
“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.” —Eleanora Duse
If you’re the type of traveler that feels absolutely home in nature, then my friend, Batanes is the next island you need to set your eyes on. Sure, it’s different from the first two SkyJet destinations we previously covered for On the Fly (in Batanes, you can’t do much water activity in their beaches such as swimming and surfing, and it’s much more quiet), but here you will be spoiled by nature almost on an otherworldly level—treating you to stupendous sights such as ultra-massive open lands, picturesque bodies of water, seemingly unending rolling hills and fields, charming stone houses, and the risk-taking (and adorable) animals crossing the roads like real champs or chilling on a cliff on a normal afternoon.
We’ll share more of our thoughts about this Northern paradise in a future story; for now, let’s get to the main reason why you clicked this article—our Batanes travel film:
